East Stroudsburg, Pa. (11/29/14) The Dominican College women's basketball team improved to 3-4 overall after posting a 73-68 victory over East Stroudsburg University on day one of the 50th Annual Pocono Classic held today at Koehler Fieldhouse.

Senior guard Lashonda Hathorne* (Queens, N.Y.) posted her first double-double of the season with a career high 26 points (10-14 from the floor, 5-12 from the free throw line), a team leading 10 rebounds and added a team high six assists.
Shannon McGill (Staten Island, N.Y.) and Lisa Bouffard (Wallkill, N.Y.) each netted 14 points in the victory and combined for five rebounds and five assists.
Forward Stefani Alston* (West Orange, N.J.) added nine points, eight rebounds and three steals.
A three-point bucket from Deja Gabbidon (Teaneck, N.J.) gave the Lady Chargers a 22-9 lead with 8:31 remaining in the first half. The Warriors rallied with a first half closing 17-8 run to cut the deficit to 30-26 at the intermission.
In the second half, the game was tied four times in the first seven minutes when ESU went on a 9-4 run to take a 51-46 advantage with 9:13 left in regulation.
A 11-2 DC run, with Hathorne scoring six of the points and capped off by a trey from McGill regained the lead for the Lady Chargers at 57-53 with under five and a half minutes left to play.
An ESU three-pointer with 1:05 on the clock cut the Dominican lead to a single digit, 67-66, but the Lady Chargers went on a 6-0 run to pull ahead, 73-66, en route to the 73-68 victory.
Dominican shot 45.2 percent overall and 7-for-14 at the three-point line, while ESU shot 38.7 percent from the field and 5-for-19 from long distance. ESU held a five-point advantage (15-10) at the foul line.
Dominican will take on Shippensburg University (3-2) tomorrow at 1pm on day two of the 50th Annual Pocono Classic.
