With the loss, Dominican falls to 4-7 overall and 2-2 in conference play.
With 5:50 remaining in the first stanza, the Lady Chargers trailed 30-20 when the offense came alive and went on a 16-5 run to regain a 36-35 lead with 0:38 on the clock. A Lisa Bouffard (Wallkill, N.Y.) layup with two seconds to play gave DC a 38-35 lead at the intermission.
Down 58-50 with a little under six minutes left in the second half, Dominican rattled off seven straight points to cut the lead to 58-57 with 3:40 on the scoreboard. Later two shots from the charity stripe from Deja Gabbidon (Teaneck, N.J.) made the score 60-59 with 2:38 to go, but less than a minute later, the Bears went 2-2 from the line to pull ahead 62-59 and remain ahead for good en route to the 68-66 win. Senior Lashonda Hathorne* (Queens, N.Y.) ended the game with the final basket on a layup as time expired.
Bouffard and guard Shannon McGill (Staten Island, N.Y.) led three Lady Chargers in double figures with 18 points each, while Bouffard added eight rebounds and McGill scored all 18 points from the three point arc.
Hathorne finished with 10 points, eight caroms and a team best six assists in the loss.
Dominican returns to Coach Baxter Court on Tuesday evening as they host Felician College in CACC North Division action. Tip-off is slatd for 5:30 pm.
