WOMEN'S BASKETBALL TOPS CALDWELL UNIVERSITY

(1/10/15) The Dominican College women's basketball team won a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) North Division contest against the visiting Cougars of Caldwell University, 82-64, this afternoon in a game played on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center. With the win, Dominican improves to 6-9 overall and 4-2 in conference play, while the Cougars fall to 9-8 overall and 6-2 in the conference.

With the win, Dominican improves to 6-9 overall and 4-2 in conference play, while the Cougars fall to 9-8 overall and 6-2 in the conference.
Dominican led 14-8 with 10:46 remaining in the first stanza when the Cougars countered with a 12-2 run to pull ahead 20-16. The Lady Chargers retaliated by scoring the next 17 of 18 points, with freshman guard Rebecca Rabeiro (Midland Park, N.J.) scoring seven of the points, to reclaim a 33-21 lead. A jumper in the paint by Deja Gabbidon (Teaneck, N.J.) gave DC a 35-26 advantage at the intermission.
The Lady Chargers never relinquished the lead in the second half and led by as many as 20 points behind a 19-34 (55.9%) performance from the floor. Gabbidon ended the game with a layup for the 82-64 win and securing the Lady Chargers fourth consecutive win against the Cougars on Coach Baxter Court.
Forward Lisa Bouffard (Wallkill, N.Y.) led all scorers and five Lady Chargers in double figures with 17 points and had eight rebounds.
Lashonda Hathorne* (Queens, N.Y.) netted 14 points, grabbed a team co-best nine rebounds and had five assists, while guard Shannon McGill (Staten Island, N.Y.) went 4-5 from the three point arc en route to 14 points as well.
Gabbidon came off the bench to score 14 points an nine rebounds. Rabeiro finished with 10 points.
Dominican returns to action on Tuesday evening when they host CACC North Division foe, Bloomfield College. Game time is 5:30 pm on Coach Baxter Court.
