HATHORNE LEADS LADY CHARGERS OVER THE UNIVERSITY OF THE SCIENCES

(2/14/15) Dominican College women's basketball player, Lashonda Hathorne* (Queens, N.Y.) led all scorers with 23 points, while recording her 1,000th career point with 4:24 to go in the first stanza, to lead the Dominican College women's basketball team to a 65-59 victory over the visiting Devils from the University of the Sciences. The win snaps a 16 game winning streak for the University of the Sciences.

The win snaps a 16 game winning streak for the University of the Sciences.
With the win, Dominican improves to 12-13 overall and 10-6 in CACC play.
USCI led 11-6 with under ten to play when Dominican went on a 10-5 run to knot the game at 16-all. The Devils rebuilt a 24-20 lead with 2:212 on the clock, but the Lady Chargers charged back with the last six points of the stanza with thee points coming from Hathorne and an and-one from junior Deja Gabbidon (Teaneck, N.J.) to put them up 26-24.
Hathorne had the hot hand in the first half, netting 17 points on a 7-10 performance on the floor and 3-4 from the charity stripe. She became the 25th player in Lady Charger history to score 1,000 points and join the Sue Heller Club on a jump shot that tied the game.
DC lead by as many as eight points in the second half and held a 47-42 advantage with under ten to play. The Devils rallied with an 8-2 run to edge ahead 50-49 with 5:40 on the clock. Leading 57-54, the Lady Chargers used six straight Gabbidon points to regain the lead for good at 60-57 en route to the 65-59 victory.
Gabbidon finished with 22 points (7-10 from the floor and free throw line) and a game high 13 rebounds, three assists and two steals in reserve for Dominican.
Forward Lisa Bouffard (Wallkill, N.Y.) netted 10 points and five rebounds, while guard Jacqueline Rywalt* (Pleasant Valley, N.Y.) had a team best five assists and three steals in the victory.
The Lady Chargers will travel to CACC North Division opponent, Felician College, this coming Tuesday evening. Tip-off is slated for 6pm.
