LADY CHARGERS FALL IN CACC QUARTERFINAL TO PHILADELPHIA UNIVERSITY

(2/28/15) The Dominican College women's basketball team, the third seed in the North Division, fell to the Rams of Philadelphia University, the second seed in the South Division, 82-63, this afternoon in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Quarterfinal game played at the Gallagher Center.

A Shannon McGill (Staten Island N.Y.) three tied the game at 3-3 with 17:29 left in the first period when the Rams went on a 22-8 run over the next ten minutes to jump ahead 25-11. Back-to-back baskets from junior Deja Gabbidon (Teaneck, N.J.) brought DC within ten points (25-15), but Philadelphia increased their lead with the next ten consecutive points and later took a 42-19 lead into the locker room.
Dominican cut the lead to 16 points in the second half on a trey from Stefani Alston* (West Orange, N.J.) but that would be as close as they would get as the Rams took the 82-63 win.
Gabbidon came off the bench to lead Dominican with 19 points and grab four rebounds.
Senior guard Lashonda Hathorne* (Queens, N.Y.) finished with 17 points and three rebounds.
Nicole Awoonor-Renner (Mount Vernon, N.Y.) and Lisa Bouffard (Wallkill, N.Y.) each grabbed five rebounds, while Jacqueline Rywalt* (Pleasant Valley, N.Y.) had a team best five assists in the loss.
Dominican now stands at 15-14 overall with the loss.
The Rams advance to the CACC Semifinals and will take on the top seed from the North Division, Caldwell College, this coming Friday.
