AIC scored the first seven points of the game and ended the first quarter with a jumper to extend their lead to 21-12. DC countered with an 8-2 run to begin the second frame and cut the lead to three points, 23-20 with a little over six minutes left. The Yellow Jackets closed out the first half on a 7-4 run to take a 30-24 lead into the locker room.
Dominican once again cut the lead to one possession (33-36) with 4:36 left in the third quarter on a trey from shooter Shannon McGill* (Staten Island, N.Y.), but five straight AIC points regained a 44-31 lead and they ended the quarter up, 41-35.
The foruth quarter saw AIC outscore Dominican 19-16 for the 60-51 win.
Junior forward Lisa Bouffard (Wallkill, N.Y.) led Dominican with 13 points and seven rebounds.
McGill and guard Rebecca Rabeiro (Midland Park, N.J.) had nine points each, with Rabeiro added three assists and two steals.
Déja Gabbidon (Teaneck, N.J.) contributed eight points and five rebounds and Jacqueline Rywalt* (Pleasant Valley, N.Y.) had a team best four assists.
Aliyah Alston (Queens, N.Y.) came off the bench to grab four rebounds, score three points, three assists and two steals.
DC will host Queens College on January 2nd at 12pm in a non-conference game on Coach Baxter Court.
