STRONG SECOND HALF LEADS COUGARS OVER LADY CHARGERS
Caldwell, N.J. (1/20/16) A strong second half performance led the Caldwell University Cougars to an 83-70 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) victory over the visiting Lady Chargers of Dominican College this evening in a contest played at the George R. Newman Center.

Following the loss, the Lady Chargers fall to 9-9 overall and 5-4 in conference play.
Guard Jacqueline Rywalt* (Pleasant Valley, N.Y.) hit a three-point basket with 1:33 left in the first quarter to begin an eight point run and closed out the frame with a second trey to give DC the 23-20 edge.
The game was once again tied with under a minute to play in the second stanza at 37-all when senior Déja Gabbidon (Teaneck, N.J.) hit a jumper with 32 ticks left in the half to put the Lady Chargers in front 39-37 at the intermission.
Gabbidon closed out the first half with 14 points and five rebounds, while Lisa Bouffard (Wallkill, N.Y.) netted 10 points and five rebounds.
A 12-4 run by the Cougars to start the third quarter saw them pull in front 49-43, but DC battled back with a 10-4 spurt to re-tie the score at 53-53 with 3:44 on the clock. A little over a minute later, the score was once again tied at 57-all when Caldwell scored the final six points of the quarter to gain a 63-57 lead.
The fourth quarter saw the Cougars pull away with the victory as they outscored their counterparts, 20-13 en route to the 83-70 win.
Gabbidon finished with night best 23 points and had seven rebounds.
Bouffard contributed 14 points and a team best eight rebounds, while Rywalt had a team high six assists to go along with nine points.
Rebecca Rabeiro (Midland Park, N.J.) also netted nine points, four rebounds, three assists and two steals in the loss.
Dominican is scheduled to travel to CACC opponent, Goldey-Beacom College, this coming Saturday.
