BEARS PUSH PAST LADY CHARGERS

(1/26/16) The Bloomfield College women's basketball team netted 23 second quarter points to erase an eight point deficit and push past the Dominican College Lady Chargers, 74-54, this evening in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game played on Coach Baxter Court in the Hennessy Center.

With the loss, Dominican falls to 9-10 overall and 5-5 in CACC play.
DC broke an early 2-2 tie in the first with the next 13 of 17 points to gain a 15-6 advantage with 4:02 left in the quarter. A jumper with 37 ticks left from forward Lisa Bouffard (Wallkill, N.Y.) gave the lady Chargers a 19-11 lead at the end of the first frame.
Dominican increased the lead to double-digits early in the second quarter, but the Bears answered back with a 11-0 run to take a 23-22 lead and scored the last five points of the half to hold a 34-31 lead.
A layup from senior Déja Gabbidon (Teaneck, N.J.) brought the Lady Chargers within two points (44-42) with 4:16 to play in the third quarter, but four answered BC points made the margain two possessions and they ended the third stanza with a 53-47 advantage.
The Bears limited the Lady Chargers to just seven points in the final quarter en route to the victory.
Gabbidon led all scorers with 19 points and added six rebounds, two blocks and two steals.
Bouffard finished with 15 points and a team leading eight caroms, while Jacqueline Rywalt* (Pleasant Valley, N.Y.) had a team high four assists.
The Lady Chargers are back in action on Thursday evening when they host CACC North Division rival, Nyack College.
