RAMS RALLY TO UPEND LADY CHARGERS

(2/6/16) The Philadelphia University Rams rallied from five-point deficit at the half to upend the Dominican College Lady Chargers, 59-54, this afternoon in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game played on Coach Baxter Court. With the win, Philadelphia University Head Coach, Tom Shirley, won his 700th game.

(2/6/16) The Philadelphia University Rams rallied from five-point deficit at the half to upend the Dominican College Lady Chargers, 59-54, this afternoon in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game played on Coach Baxter Court. With the win, Philadelphia University Head Coach, Tom Shirley, won his 700th game.
During halftime of the game, the Lady Chargers present the Sue Heller Scholarship Award to junior Chelsea Crawford (Montgomery, N.Y.).
The game was tied at 10-10 with under four minutes remaining in the first quarter when freshman Ciera Rivera (Pomona, N.Y.) hit a three-point bucket and following a Ram free throw closed out the first frame with another trey to five DC the 16-11 edge.
Buckets from Rivera and Déja Gabbidon (Teaneck, N.J.) would extend the Dominican lead to nine points twice in the second stanza, but Philadelphia would close out the half on a 4-0 run to cut the deficit to 24-19.
Gabbidon finished with 10 points, nine rebounds and two blocks in the first half, while Rivera had eight points off the bench, going 2-4 from the three-point arc.
The Rams continued on the run with the first three points of the third quarter and would later re-tie the score at 31-all with just over three minutes to go. Philadelphia would gain a 34-31 lead, but six straight Lady Charger points from Gabbidon and Jacqueline Rywalt* (Pleasant Valley, N.Y.) would rebuild a three point lead, 37-34. Two Ram free throws made the score 37-36 at the end of three quarters.
Philadelphia opend the final frame with a three-point basket and went on to outscore Dominican 8-2 over the next ten points to claim their biggest lead, 47-39. A three from sophomore Rebecca Rabeiro (Midland Park, N.J.) would bring DC within three (47-44), but a 5-0 run gave the Rams the lead for good en route to the victory.
Gabbidon led Dominican with 19 points and 14 rebounds.
Rabeiro finished with 13 points, while Rywalt had an afternoon best six assists.
With the loss Dominican falls to 10-12 overall and 6-7 in CACC play.
DC will travel to Concordia College this coming Tuesday evening.
