WOMEN'S BASKETBALL ENDS REGULAR SEASON WITH A VICTORY

(2/23/16) The Dominican College women's basketball team ended the regular season with a victory over the visiting Eagles of Post University, 63-33, on Senior Night at the Hennessy Center. With the win, Dominican ends the regular season with an overall record of 14-14 and a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) mark of 10-9.

Prior to the start of the game, the Lady Chargers honored seniors: #4 Déja Gabbidon (Teaneck, N.J.), #15 Aliyah Alston (Queens, N.Y.) and #55 Nicole Awoonor-Renner (Mount Vernon, N.Y.) in a ceremony.
Post opened the game with a three-point basket, but the Lady Chargers charged back with a 18-2 tear, highlighted by back-to-back treys from Alston to go in front, 18-5 and held a 21-7 lead at the end of one quarter.
Dominican led by as many as 21 points in the second frame, but the Eagles closed out the half on a 6-0 run to cut the lead to 32-18.
Forward Lisa Bouffard (Wallkill, N.Y.) netted 12 first-half points and grabbed seven rebounds.
Alston extended the lead to 24 points (51-27) with 33 seconds left in the third quarter with her third three-point bucket of the game and with just under five minutes left in regulation Gabbidon would score a layup to a 31 point (61-30) advantage.
The trio of seniors combined for 32 points and 16 rebounds.
Gabbidon had a night best 14 points and team leading nine rebounds. Alston finished with 12 points and three assists, while Awoonor-Renner tallied six points and six caroms in the win.
The Lady Chargers have finished third in the CACC North Division and will travel to Holy Family University, who has earned the second seed in the South Division, this coming Saturday at 2pm for a CACC Tournament Quarterfinal contest.
