The first quarter saw the teams seesaw back and forth with the lead through the first five and a half minutes when the Setters scored six straight points to go ahead 14-9 and would lead 16-10 with 3:18 to go. The Lady Chargers closed out the quarter on an 8-4 run to cut the deficit to 20-18.
A layup from senior Sara Ismail (Clifton, N.J.) to start the second frame knotted the scorea t 20-all, but Pace would go on to outscore DC 12-6 to take a 32-26 advantage into the break.
Dominican (0-3) would cut the lead to five points early in the third quarter as freshman Jasmine Gee (Englewood, N.J.) would complete the and-one play, but that would be as close as the team would get as the Setters went on to the win.
Gee and senior Lisa Bouffard (Wallkill, N.Y.) led Dominican as they each netted 11 points, while Gee grabbed eight rebounds and Bouffard had four assists.
Jacqueline Rywalt (Pleasant Valley, N.Y.) scored nine points and eight boards, while Rebecca Rabeiro (Midland Park, N.J.) added eight points.
Ismail finished with eight points in reserve and Stefani Alston (West Orange, N.J.) recorded four caroms.
The Lady Chargers will host the 4th Annual Regina Rivera Memorial Tournament this coming weekend.
