WOMEN'S BASKETBALL FALL TO PANTHERS

(12/30/16) The Dominican College women's basketball team fell in non-conference action to the visiting Panthers of Adelphi University, 56-44, this afternoon in a game played on Coach Baxter Court in the Hennessy Center. With the loss, the Lady Chargers fall to 1-12 overall, while the Panthers improve to 11-2.

With the loss, the Lady Chargers fall to 1-12 overall, while the Panthers improve to 11-2.
Dominican opened the game with a trey from senior guard Jacqueline Rywalt (Pleasant Valley, N.Y.) and later a jumper from Ciera Rivera (Pomona, N.Y.) gave them a 10-9 edge with 1:55 remaining in the first quarter. A Panther score with 50 ticks left put them ahead 11-10.
AU went on to outscore DC 17-12 in the second frame to take a 28-22 lead at the break.
The Lady Chargers countered in the third quarter and held the Panthers to just six points, while they netted 13. Dominican came out of the locker room and scored the first six points to tie the score at 28-all. DC later used an and-one play from senior Lisa Bouffard (Wallkill, N.Y.) and added two more free throws on a Panther technical foul to gain a 35-34 edge at the end of three quarters.
Dominican began the final stanza with two more free throws from Bouffard to extend their lead to 37-34. The Panthers countered with the next 14 points to regain a 48-37 lead en route to the win.
Bouffard finished with the game's only double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds.
Stefani Alston (West Orange, N.J.) finished with eight points, while Rywalt added seven points.
DC will return to conference play on January 4th when they host the University of the Sciences.
