WOMEN'S BASKETBALL EARNS HISTORIC WIN OVER HOLY FAMILY UNIVERSITY
Philadelphia, Pa. (1/10/17) The Dominican College women's basketball team earned their first ever victory over Holy Family University as they defeated the host, 60-49, this evening in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game played at the Campus Center Gym.

With the win, Dominican improves to 3-13 overall and 3-4 in CACC play.
The Lady Chargers put together an 11-7 first quarter closing run, concluded by back-to-back threes from senior shooter Shannon McGill (Staten Island, N.Y.) to break a 6-6 tie and give DC a 17-13 advantage at the end of the first frame.
Dominican would extend the lead to 29-22 at the intermission after outscoring the Tigers, 12-9, in the second quarter.
Senior forward Stefani Alston (West Orange, N.J.) netted nine point in the first half, while guard Jacqueline Rywalt (Pleasant Valley, N.Y.) grabbed five rebounds.
DC would also outscore their opponents in the third quarter, 14-8 to give them a 43-30 lead going into the final 15 minutes of play.
Holy Family would cut the lead to nine early in the final quarter, but junior guard Rebecca Rabeiro (Midland Park, N.J.) quickly regained the double-digit lead with a trey en route to the 60-49 win.
Alston would finish with a career high 18 points and six rebounds in the win.
Rabeiro finished with 11 points, five rebounds and four steals.
Forward Jasmine Gee (Englewood, N.J.) came off the bench to net eight points, while Rywalt finished with a night best eight assists, team high seven rebounds and seven points.
Dominican returns home on Saturday afternoon as they host Goldey-Beacom College.
