LADY CHARGERS GET WIN OVER GRIFFINS ON ALUMNI DAY

(2/4/17) The Dominican College women's basketball team defeated the visiting Griffins of Chestnut Hill College, 78-67, this afternoon in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game played on Coach Baxter Court. Today the team celebrated the 16th Annual Sue Heller Memorial Game and Alumni day in the Hennessy Center.

Today the team celebrated the 16th Annual Sue Heller Memorial Game and Alumni day in the Hennessy Center.
The score was tied at 12-all with 2:32 to play in the first period when the Lady Chargers closed out the quarter on a 5-0 run to take a 17-12 advantage.
A three-point basket from senior Shannon McGill (Staten Island, N.Y.) gave DC a 30-28 lead with 1:47 left before the break and the teams went into locker rooms tied at 30-30.
An 8-0 run in the third frame gave Dominican their biggest lead, 57-46, with 50 ticks left and they led 57-50 at the end of three quarters.
DC would lead by as many as 16 points in the final frame en route to the win.
Junior Rebecca Rabeiro (Midland Park, N.J.) led five Lady Chargers in double figures with 17 points and an afternoon best eight assists.
Rookie Jasmine Gee (Englewood, N.J.) came off the bench to net 15 points and six boards, while forward Lisa Bouffard (Wallkill, N.Y.) netted 14 points.
Shannon McGill (Staten Island, N.Y.) contributed 12 points and Kyla Ramseur (Bloomfield, N.J.) had 11 points.
Senior Stefani Alston (West Orange, N.J.) grabbed a team best 11 rebounds.
At halftime of the game, the team awarded the annual Sue Heller Memorial Scholarship to junior Brittany Stone (Paramus, N.J.). The scholarship will be available to her in the 2017-2018 season.
With the win, Dominican improves to 9-15 overall and 9-6 in conference play.
The Lady Chargers return to action next Saturday afternoon as they travel to Georgian Court University.
