31 STUDENT-ATHLETES GARNER A SPOT ON THE 2016-17 CACC WOMEN'S BASKETBALL ALL-ACADEMIC TEAM
New Haven, Conn. (3/30/17) Thirty-one (31) student-athletes on Thursday were named to the 2016-17 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women's Basketball All-Academic Team, as announced by Commissioner Dan Mara.
2016-17 CACC WOMEN'S BASKETBALL ALL-ACADEMIC TEAM (COMPLETE LIST OF HONOREES)
New Haven, Conn. (3/30/17) Thirty-one (31) student-athletes on Thursday were named to the 2016-17 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women's Basketball All-Academic Team, as announced by Commissioner Dan Mara.
In order to be named to the CACC Women's Basketball All-Academic Team, recipients must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, have been a student-athlete at their current school for at least two semesters, and achieve a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher through the fall semester of 2016.
Sixteen (16) of the honorees were named to the all-academic team for at least a second time in their careers, thus marking more than half the squad were multiple-time honorees. Of those 16, three were named to the squad for the third time in their respective careers.
Dominican College's Jacqueline Rywalt (Pleasant Valley, N.Y.) makes her third appearance on the team with a 3.88 GPA in her major of childhood education.
A pair of Philadelphia University standouts -- Kelsey Jones and Jackie McCarron -- posted perfect 4.0 GPAs. Caldwell University's Kristen Drogsler, who was named the 2016-17 CACC Player of the Year, also was placed on the all-academic squad for the second time in as many seasons, as she owned a 3.90 GPA in her major of health science.
University of the Sciences, which claimed this year's women's basketball conference championship, led the way with six honorees, while PhilaU followed with five players named to the academic list.
