GEE LEADS LADY CHARGERS TO FIRST WIN OF THE SEASON
Bronxville, N.Y. (12/5/17) The Lady Chargers earned their first win of the season on Tuesday when they visited Concordia College who were also winless up to this point in the season.
Bronxville, N.Y. (12/5/17) The Lady Chargers earned their first win of the season on Tuesday when they visited Concordia College who were also winless up to this point in the season. In only their second conference game of the season, the Lady Chargers put together their best game so far on the young season. The Lady Chargers outshot Concordia 43.5% from the field while the Clippers shot 23.3% from the field and struggled against Dominican's defense. The Lady Chargers as a team pulled down 53 rebounds in the game and outrebounded the Clippers by 13.
Dominican(1-7, 1-1 CACC) got off to the early lead in the first quarter with a 14-2 run to end the first quarter and never trailed in the game again. Jasmine Gee (Englewood, N.J.) led the way in the opening quarter scoring eight points and pulled down six rebounds. Dominican continued their strong play in the second quarter and extended their lead over the Clippers to 28-17 by halftime.
The third quarter had been a tough quarter so far this season for the Lady Chargers and they entered the quarter against the Clippers with an 11 point lead. Dominican came out of the break scoring 24 points in the quarter which was the most they have scored in a quarter this season. Gee continued her strong play adding six more points in the third quarter and the fourth quarter. By the fourth quarter, Dominican was leading 52-34 and extended to their largest lead of the game in the final quarter which was 27 en route to their first win of the season by a score of 68-43.
Gee finished the game recording 12 rebounds to go along with her 22 points for a solid performance leading her team to their first win. Gee's performance marks her first double-double of the season in what was the Lady Chargers best game so far this season. Ciera Rivera (Pomona, N.Y.) and Khay'la Latimer (Teaneck, N.J.) both scored nine points in the win and Rebecca Rabeiro (Midland Park, N.J.) had herself a nice game as well scoring eight points and added eight rebounds, seven assists and three steals. Kyla Ramseur (Bloomfield, N.J.) scored seven points and recorded three rebounds as well. A strong performance from multiple players was the driving force to the win.
Dominican will have the next couple of days off before they return home on Saturday December 9th against Nyack College at 1:00 PM. The Lady Chargers will look to continue their strong play on Saturday and for the rest of the season.
