LADY CHARGERS GET BACK INTO WIN COLUMN AFTER WIN OVER FELICIAN

Rutherford, N.J. (1/30/18) The Dominican College Lady Chargers basketball team traveled to Felician University for a matchup with the Golden Falcons. The Lady Chargers were coming off of the tough loss at home that they suffered to Jefferson University. Dominican gave a competitive performance against the Rams who are one of the better teams from a tough south division. The Golden Falcons have had the same kind of season as Dominican so far this season. The Lady Chargers entered the game seeing it as a great opportunity to get back into the win column.
The first quarter was evenly matched seeing both teams score in double-digits by quarter's end. Felician used a quick 9-2 in the second quarter to jump out to a double-digit lead over the Lady Chargers. Dominican countered by using some momentum to close the gap and make the game close before the half ended. Felician took a 32-28 lead into halftime over the Lady Chargers and the eleven-point lead was the largest of the half for the Golden Falcons.
Taylor Tomlinson (Middletown, N.Y.) led all scorers with 13 points in the first half, and went five for five from the field in the for the Lady Chargers and recorded four rebounds off the bench. Kyla Ramseur (Bloomfield, N.J.) made three of her four field goals in the half good enough for six points for Dominican. The Lady Chargers missed all five of their shots from three-point range as a team. The first half was evenly matched and the Lady Chargers were in the midst of a game that they could win.
Felician jumped out to their largest lead of the game in the third quarter on the back of a 10-1 run the start the second half over the Lady Chargers. Dominican was able to cut back into the deficit for the remainder of the third quarter. Felician seemed like they had control of the game for most of the third quarter and leading into the fourth quarter. The Golden Falcons held a six-point lead heading into the final quarter.
The Lady Chargers once again closed the gap and started the fourth quarter out strong by scoring ten points within the quarter's first three minutes. Dominican then took their first lead of the game with just over six minutes left to go in the game. Felician answered to take the lead back but it was short lived as Dominican closed out the win on an 11-1 run for the 65-57 victory to improve to 7-13 (6-6 CACC) and finished the month of January strong with a win.
Tomlinson finished with a team high 17 points along with eight rebounds in the win. Jasmine Gee (Englewood, N.J.) and Rebecca Rabeiro (Midland Park, N.J.) both finished with 12 points scored. Gee recorded nine rebounds while Rabeiro added four rebounds, three assists, and three steals. Khay'la Latimer (Teaneck, N.J.) scored five points for the Lady Chargers, but hit the only three-point shot in the game for her team which gave the Lady Chargers their first lead of the game and recorded 11 rebounds and seven assists.
Dominican will be back in action on Saturday February 3rd at 1:00 PM where the will host Pace University for an out of conference game to kick off the final month of play in the regular season.
