RABEIRO SCORES 1,000th POINT IN LOSS TO FELICIAN

Orangeburg, N.Y. (2/15/18) Lady Charger's senior Rebecca Rabeiro (Midland Park, N.J.) entered Thursday's CACC contest against Felician University only ten points away from 1,000 for her career. Rabeiro made a free throw early on in the game then proceeded to nail two three-pointers in the first quarter to get within three points of the milestone. With 6:26 left to go in the second quarter, Rabeiro received a pass from teammate Khay'la Latimer (Teaneck, N.J.) and drained her third three-pointer of the game which helped her reach the 1,000 point mark for her career.
The Lady Chargers, 8-17 (7-9 CACC), were looking to get back into the win column against the Golden Falcons at home with both teams fighting for positioning in the north division standings in the conference.
Felician, 9-14 (7-9 CACC), now tied with the Lady Chargers in conference play held on late to earn the win. Dominican jumped out in front by seven points late in the opening quarter but the Golden Falcons were able to keep the score close. The Lady Chargers earned their largest lead of the game in the second quarter and took a 34-28 lead into halftime.
Rabeiro needed 10 points for 1,000 for her career and scored all 10 in the first half for the Lady Chargers. Rabeiro also went 3 for 3 from three-point range to lead Dominican in the first half. Jasmine Gee (Englewood, N.J.) and Ciera Rivera (Pomona, N.Y.) both finished the first half with seven points and Rivera also earned five rebounds. Dominican shot 34.4% from the field in the half while Felician shot 41.7% in the half.
Dominican extended out to an eight-point lead once again to start the third quarter. The Golden Falcons used a 13-2 run to get back into the game and earned their first lead of the game since the first quarter. The third quarter ended with the Golden Falcons holding a slim 46-44 lead over Dominican. The final quarter went back and forth between the two teams but in the end it was Felician who was able to hold on and earn the victory as time expired.
Rabeiro finished out her milestone game with 13 points which led the team. Rabeiro also added four rebounds, one assist, and one steal for Dominican. Taylor Tomlinson (Middletown, N.Y.) finished with 12 points and five rebounds in the loss. Rivera finished with a double-double earning 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Bionca Chambers led Felician in the second half with 17 points to help secure the win for the Golden Falcons. Chambers finished the game leading all scorers with 22 points in the win for Felician.
The Lady Chargers will be back in action on Saturday February 17th when they travel to Goldey-Beacom College at 1:00 PM.
