Orangeburg, N.Y. (11/17/18) The Dominican College women's basketball team fell to the Red Hawks of Roberts Wesleyan College by a score of 75-58. The game was the second and final game of the 6th Annual Regina Rivera Memorial Tournament for the Lady Chargers. With the loss, DC drops to 0-4 overall on the season. The Red Hawks improved to 2-2 with the win.
The Red Hawks jumped out to a 19-10 lead after the first quarter. The Red Hawks led by as many as 16 points in the second quarter. The Lady Chargers cut the deficit to 9 points by ending the first half on a 7-0 run.
Khay'la Latimer (Teaneck, N.J.) led the Lady Chargers in the first half with 8 points on three for six shooting. Jasmine Gee (Englewood, N.J.) contributed 6 points in the first half and pulled down 4 rebounds for DC.
Emily Miller led all scorers at halftime with 12 points and recorded 6 rebounds for the Red Hawks. The Red Hawks were perfect from the free throw line in the first half by making 9 of 9 free throw attempts.
The Red Hawks used an eleven-point run in the third quarter to extend their lead over the Lady Chargers. The Red Hawks finished the third quarter with 22 points scored and followed it up with a 21-point effort in the fourth quarter to earn the 75-58 win.
Gee led the Lady Chargers with 21 points, seven rebounds, three steals and one block in the loss. Korina Guerra (White Plains, N.Y.) finished with 10 points, five assists, three rebounds and three steals. Latimer finished the game with nine points.
Emily Miller led the Red Hawks with 21 points and 10 rebounds in the win. Taylor Bynoe added 15 points while Taryn Wilson scored 14 points in the win. Wilson also added 6 rebounds.
The Lady Chargers will be back in action on Tuesday, November 20th when they host Queens College at 7:00 PM.
