LADY CHARGERS FALL TO SCSU

New Haven, Conn. (12/30/18) The Lady Chargers traveled to Southern Connecticut State University for a non-conference game with the Owls. SCSU secured the win to improve their record to 8-4 while DC falls to 4-7 on the season with the loss.
The Owls jumped out to a quick lead in the first quarter by scoring 29 points to open the game. SCSU followed their strong performance in the first quarter with a solid second quarter to take a 49-31 lead into halftime.
Imani Wheeler led the Owls in the first half with 13 points while Kiana Steinauer scored 12 points and 10 rebounds. Amanda Pfohl scored 10 points for the Owls and Aaliyah Walker finished the first half with 8 points.
Jasmine Gee (Englewood, N.J.) led the Lady Chargers in the first half with 10 points while Khay'la Latimer (Teaneck, N.J.) and Samantha McClutchy (Washington Township, N.J.) each scored six points.
The Owls continued their strong play on offense by jumping out to a 24-point lead over the Lady Chargers in the third quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Owls led by as many as 25-point over Dominican.
DC cut the deficit to 10 points in the fourth quarter but the Owls were able to keep the lead and secure the 85-71 win.
Steinauer and Wheeler led the Owls to victory with 23 points each while Steinauer recorded 15 rebounds. Walker finished the game with 14 points and 7 rebounds and Pfohl added 12 points.
Gee led the Lady Chargers in scoring with 28 points and added five rebounds. McClutchy finished with 11 points and five rebounds while Ciera Rivera (Pomona, N.Y.) added 12 points.
The Lady Chargers will return to action on Wednesday, January 2nd when they travel to the University of New Haven at 5:30 PM.
