Dominican falls to 4-8 on the season.
Ciera Rivera (Pomona, N.Y.) and Jasmine Gee (Englewood, N.J.) led the visitors with 16 points. Rivera added four rebounds, two assists and two steals, while Gee had three assists and two caroms.
Junior Ashley Merritt (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) netted nine points, a team high four assists and four rebounds in reserve. Samantha McClutchy (Washington Township, N.J.) grabbed a team best six boards and scored eight points, while Korina Guerra (White Plains, N.Y.) also tallied eight points and four rebounds in the loss.
Alpreshia Parker (Pocono Summit, Pa.) scored the first goal of the contest and the Lady Chargers would lead, by as many as four points, for most of the quarter until the 2:04 mark. The teams would trade baskets until Rivera gave DC a 17-16 edge following two free throws. A UNH layup as time expired gave the host a 18-17 lead.
Dominican would outscore their counterparts, 21-15 in the second quarter to head into the locker room with a 38-33 lead. Rivera began the quarter with an opening trey to regain a 20-18 lead. McClutchy and Gee would follow with buckets for a 7-0 run and give the team a 24-18 advantage with just under five minutes left in the quarter. UNH would cut the lead to two points with 11 ticks left, but Merritt closed out the first half with a three-point basket for the five point lead at the break.
Gee opened the third quarter with a layup to give Dominican their biggest lead, 40-33, of the game, but the host would rally to outscore DC 21-6 in the quarter to pull in frount 54-44.
The Lady Chargers began the final quarter on a 5-0 run to cut the deficit to 54-49 in the first minute of action and would later use a Khay'la Latimer (Teaneck, N.J.) jumper to make the score 69-65 with under a minute to go. UNH closed out the game on a 7-2 free throw run for the win.
Dominican returns to Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action this coming Saturday when they host Chestnut Hill College. Tip-off is scheduled for 1pm on Coach Baxter Court in the Hennessy Center.
