LADY CHARGERS EARN SECOND STRAIGHT WIN OVER CALDWELL
Caldwell, N.J. (1/8/19) The Lady Chargers women’s basketball team won their second straight game to improve their record to 6-8 (4-1 CACC).
Caldwell, N.J. (1/8/19) The Lady Chargers women's basketball team won their second straight game to improve their record to 6-8 (4-1 CACC). The Lady Chargers defeated the Cougars of Caldwell University by a score of 70-65.
DC held a 19-11 lead after the first quarter and finished the opening quarter strong on a 9-2 run. Caldwell bounced back to score 22 points in the second quarter and held DC to just 10 points. The Cougars held a 33-29 lead at halftime.
The Cougars ended the first half strong with a 12-2 run to regain the lead over the Lady Chargers.
Alpreshia Parker (Pocono Summit, Pa.) scored eight points in the first half while Jasmine Gee (Englewood, N.J.) contributed six points. DC shot 41.4% from the field in the opening half but went 0-4 from three-point range.
Paula Dits led the Cougars in the first half with nine points. Tina Lebron and Andie Lennon each scored eight points for Caldwell. Tamrin Henderson led the Cougars in rebounds with seven.
The third quarter was a back and forth quarter and DC was able to regain the lead halfway through the quarter. The Cougars were able to end the quarter strong with a one-point lead.
In the fourth quarter, the Cougars led by five points with less than five minutes to play. DC took the lead back with less than three minutes left and extended their lead to help close the win out.
Gee led the way for DC with 26 points. Korina Guerra (White Plains, N.Y.) contributed 15 points and recorded five steals, four assists, and four rebounds. Parker finished with 14 points and three rebounds in the win.
Alessia Smaldone led the Cougars with 19 points. Andie Lennon contributed 16 points and went 10 for 10 from the free-throw line. Tamrin Henderson finished with 13 points.
The Lady Chargers will be back in action Saturday, January 12th when they travel to Georgian Court University for a conference game with the Lions. Tip-off is scheduled for 12:00 PM.
