LADY CHARGERS BOUNCE BACK TO DEFEAT WILMINGTON
Newark, Del. (2/7/19) The Lady Chargers traveled to Wilmington University and defeated the Wildcats by a score of 74-68.
Newark, Del. (2/7/19) The Lady Chargers traveled to Wilmington University and defeated the Wildcats by a score of 74-68. With the win, DC gets back into the win column after dropping back to back games and improve to 10-11 (8-4 CACC) on the season. The Wildcats fall to 4-16 (4-8 CACC) with the loss.
The Lady Chargers came out strong in the first quarter using a 13-2 run to take control of the game early. DC followed up the first quarter with another strong quarter which they extended to their largest lead of the first half which was 18 points.
The Wildcats answered the Lady Chargers and ended the first half on a 7-0 run to cut the deficit down to 11 points before halftime.
Alpreshia Parker (Pocono Summit, Pa.) and Khay'la Latimer (Teaneck, N.J.) each scored eight points in the first half for the Lady Chargers. Samantha McClutchy (Washington Township, N.J.) recorded six rebounds in the opening half.
Macy Robinson had five rebounds and five points in the first half for the Wildcats. Kiara Eubanks also contributed five points in the first half.
The Wildcats came out strong in the third quarter by scoring the first 13 points of the quarter and took their first lead of the game over DC. The Lady Chargers ended the WU run to take the lead back and held a four-point lead heading into the fourth quarter.
The Wildcats were able to tie the game back up but DC answered by never letting WU take the lead and secured the victory.
Korina Guerra (White Plains, N.Y.) led the way for DC with 20 points and pulled down five rebounds. Out of Guerra's 20 points, 15 came in the second half. Parker finished the game with 13 points and made three of five three-pointers.
Ashley Merritt (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) added 11 points and Naabea-Janaan Assibey-Bonsu (Central Islip, N.Y.) added 10 points in the win. Jasmine Gee (Englewood, N.J.) finished the game with nine points and seven rebounds while McClutchy led DC in rebounds with eight.
Kiara Eubanks led the Wildcats with 19 points. Macy Robinson recorded a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Emily Ansah also recorded a double-double with 11 points and 13 rebounds.
Dominican will return to action when they travel to Jefferson University on Saturday, February 9th. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 PM.
