LADY CHARGER TRIO COMBINES FOR 60 POINTS TO HELP LIFT DC OVER WILDCATS

With the win, the Lady Chargers improve to 6-9 (4-2 CACC) and the Wildcats drop to 1-13 (1-5 CACC) on the season.
DC trio of Korina Guerra (White Plains, N.Y.), Ashley Merritt (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.), and Taylor Tomlinson (Middletown, N.Y.) combined for 60 points to help lift the Lady Chargers to victory.
Korina Guerra led the way for DC with 26 points and 15 boards to complete a double-double. Guerra also recorded four steals and four assists. Ashley Merritt contributed 18 points and five assists. Merritt did most of her damage from three-point range by nailing five shots from beyond the arc.
Taylor Tomlinson also recorded a double-double for the Lady Chargers with 16 points and recorded 11 rebounds.
In the first quarter, both teams were evenly matched to start the game. DC outscored the Wildcats in the second quarter 21-12 and were led by Tomlinson who scored eight points in the quarter. DC took a 38-28 lead into halftime.
The Wildcats answered in the third quarter with 29 points to get back into the game. WILMU used a 15-0 run to take their first lead of the game since the second quarter.
WILMU extended to their largest lead which was 10 points over the Lady Chargers. DC came charging back at the end of the third quarter to cut the deficit to three points before the start of the fourth quarter.
The Lady Chargers used a big offensive effort in the fourth quarter and outscored the Wildcats 27-13 to complete the comeback win. The Lady Chargers used a 14-2 run to gain the lead back.
Merritt scored 12 points and Guerra scored 11 in the final quarter for DC. The Lady Chargers finished the comeback with the 81-70 victory.
For the Wildcats, LaShyra Williams scored a team-high 22 points and added six rebounds. Emily Ansah recorded a double-double with 17 points and 10 boards. Jadyn Whitsitt finished with 12 points while Kiara Eubanks recorded nine rebounds.
The Lady Chargers will be back in action on Wednesday, January 15th when they visit the Clippers of Concordia College at 5:00 PM.
