FOUR LADY CHARGERS NAMED TO 2019-20 CACC WOMEN'S BASKETBALL ALL-ACADEMIC TEAM
New Haven, Conn. (3/26/20) Forty-four (44) student-athletes on Thursday were named to the 2019-20 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women's Basketball All-Academic Team, as announced by CACC Commissioner Dan Mara. Thirteen (13) of the 14 schools that compete in the sport in the CACC had at least one student-athlete make the all-academic squad.

Thirteen (13) of the 14 schools that compete in the sport in the CACC had at least one student-athlete make the all-academic squad.
Dominican College had four players named to the team. Making their second appearance on the team are Samantha McClutchy (Washington Township, N.J.) with a GPA of 3.88, Katie Clarke (Cold Spring, N.Y.) with a GPA of 3.62 and Ashley Merritt (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) with a GPA of 3.87. Junior Korina Guerra (White Plains, N.Y.) earns her first CACC All-Academic accolades with a GPA of 3.82.
Goldey-Beacom College led the way with seven honorees, including Reetta Saaski, who sports a 3.96 cumulative grade point average in her major of psychology. Playoff qualifiers Chestnut Hill College, Holy Family University and University of the Sciences followed with five honorees each. HFU advanced to the CACC Championship Final, while USciences won the CACC South Division Regular Season Championship and earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Division II East Region Tournament.
Nearly half of the honorees (20 of 44) were named to the all-academic team for at least the second time in their respective careers. Eight of the 20 were named to the unit for the third time.
USciences star Irisa Ye, who was named the 2019-20 CACC Women's Basketball Player of the Year, earned a spot on the team after posting a 3.93 GPA in her major of biomedical sciences. It marked the second-consecutive year she was named to the academic squad.
To be eligible for the All-Academic Team, a student-athletes must meet the following criteria: a) minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 at the end of the immediate preceding term; b) minimum of two semesters enrolled as full-time student at member institution; c) student-athlete must be second year student-athlete at member institution; and d) student-athlete must have been athletically eligible the season preceding the award and used a season of eligibility.
