LADY CHARGERS UPEND PENMEN 88-84 IN OVERTIME AT SAINT ANSELM OPENER
Manchester, N.H. (11/12/22) The Dominican University New York women's basketball team began the 2022-23 season with an 88-84 overtime victory over Southern New Hampshire University tonight at the Saint Anselm Opener.

Redshirt sophomore Tanasha Mills (New City, N.Y.) posted career highs of 25 points and eight assists, in addition to pulling down four rebounds.
Freshman Cayla Howard (Naugatuck, Conn) delivered 17 points in her collegiate debut, while Chidinma Ndukauba (Brooklyn, N.Y.) produced the double-double of 15 points and 12 caroms in the win.
Alexis Suarez (Poughquag, N.Y.) recorded the double-double of 11 points and 10 assists.
Dominican led 23-20 after one quarter of play and used a 13-4 run late in the second to take a 45-33 lead at the break.
Howard tallied 11 points in the first half, while Suarez acquired seven assists.
The fourth quarter saw Dominican holding a 73-64 advantage with a minute and a half left in regulation when the Penmen scored 12 consecutive points to claim a 76-73 lead with four seconds to go. Following a 30 second time out by the Lady Chargers, graduate student Kristin Teklits (New Fairfield, Conn.) hit the game-tying trey to force overtime.
The score was tied at 82-all in overtime when the Lady Chargers went on a 6-2 spurt with Mills hitting consecutive free throws to make the score 88-84 with 14 seconds on the clock. The Penmen got a shot off in the final 10 seconds but a team defensive board by Dominican secured the win.
The Lady Chargers return to action tomorrow as they take on Saint Anselm College at 1pm.
