LADY CHARGERS UPEND RAVENS ON DAY ONE OF REGINA RIVERA TOURNAMENT
Orangeburg, N.Y. (11/19/22) The Dominican University New York women’s basketball team earned a win in non-conference action over the Ravens of Franklin Pierce University 65-57.

The Lady Chargers defeated the Ravens on day one of the 9th Annual Regina Rivera Memorial Tournament to improve to 2-2 overall.
The Lady Chargers got off to a strong start in the opening quarter and held a 22-9 lead heading into the second quarter.
In the second quarter, the Lady Chargers extended to their largest lead of the game which was 18 points. The Ravens finished the half strong on a 12-3 run to cut the Dominican lead to 36-27.
Dominican held an 11 point lead after a low scoring third quarter. The Ravens fought back in the fourth quarter and cut the Lady Charger lead to two points.
Dominican finished strong and never lost the lead on their way to a 65-57 victory.
Tanasha Mills (New City, N.Y.) was the leading scorer for Dominican with 15 points and also added three assists and two steals. Chidinma Ndukauba (Brooklyn, N.Y.) added 13 points, five rebounds, three assists, and three steals.
Alexis Suarez (Poughquag, N.Y.) scored 10 points and recorded a team-high nine assists and five steals.
The Lady Chargers forced 30 turnovers and scored 25 points off of Franklin Pierce turnovers.
The Ravens were led by Ines Gimenez Monserrat who led all scorers with 20 points. Leana Heitmann added 14 points. Kenzie Sirowich led the Ravens in rebounds with eight and assists with four.
The Lady Chargers will return to action on Sunday for day two of the 9th Annual Regina Rivera Memorial Tournament when they host the Lions of Molloy University at 1:00 PM.
