LADY CHARGERS ADVANCE TO 2023 CACC WOMEN'S BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP SEMIFINALS WITH WIN OVER CHESTNUT HILL COLLEGE
Orangeburg, N.Y. (2/28/23) The Dominican University New York women’s basketball team earned a trip to the 2023 CACC Women’s Basketball Championship Semifinals after their victory in the CACC Quarterfinal round over the Griffins of Chestnut Hill College.

The #2N seeded Lady Chargers defeated the #3S seeded Griffins by a score of 79-69.
Dominican was led by Tanasha Mills (New City, N.Y.) who scored a game-high 22 points and led the team in assists with six. Mills finished the game 7-14 from the field and finished 8-9 from the free-throw line.
Kristen Teklits (New Fairfield, Conn.) added 21 points including a team best five three-pointers. Teklits also added six boards and three steals.
Cayla Howard (Naugatuck, Conn.) and Alexis Suarez (Poughquag, N.Y.) each scored 12 points. Howard also recorded five boards and two steals while Suarez added five assists, four boards, and two steals. Olivia Levy (Stony Point, N.Y.) finished with a team-high eight rebounds.
The Lady Chargers finished the game shooting 47.3% from the field and added 19-24 from the free-throw line. Dominican also added 34 points in the paint and 16 second chance points.
Dominican got off to a fast start in the first quarter jumping out to an 11-point lead and held a 20-12 lead by the start of the second quarter.
The Lady Chargers extended to their largest lead of the game in the second quarter which was 14 points. CHC answered with a 15-0 run to take the lead over Dominican with just over one minute left to play in the first half.
Dominican scored on their next two possessions to regain the lead and held a 37-33 advantage over the Griffins at halftime.
The Lady Chargers extended back to a double digit lead in the third quarter but the Griffins finished the quarter strong by outscoring Dominican 13-6 and trailed by two points to start the fourth quarter.
The Lady Chargers held a two-point lead with 1:41 left to play and key free-throws were made down the stretch to help extend the lead and secure the win.
The Griffins were led by Emily Chmiel who scored 18 points. Morgan Orloski finished with 17 points while Siobhan Boylan added 14 points.
