WOMEN'S BASKETBALL TURNED AWAY BY RAMS
Philadelphia, Pa. (1/6/24) The Dominican University New York women's basketball team was turned away by the Rams of Thomas Jefferson University in CACC action at the Gallagher Athletic, Recreation and Convocation Center in Philadelphia, Pa.
In a rematch of last season's CACC semifinals, the Rams scored 53 first half points to improve to 12-1 overall and 3-0 in conference play. The Lady Chargers fall to 4-9 overall and 1-3 in the CACC.
Dominican was led by Cayla Howard (Naugatuck, Conn.) and Chidinma Ndukauba (Brooklyn, N.Y.) who combined for 31 points. Howard also finished with a team-high eight boards and recorded two assists. Ndukauba also finished with four rebounds, four assists, three blocks, and two steals.
Angelina DiMarsico (Stony Point, N.Y.) finished with 12 points with a team-high four three-pointers and also added five boards. Keylee Harrison (Newport News, Va.) provided 10 points and six boards off the bench while Isabella Javier (Bergenfield, N.J.) scored seven points and recorded four rebounds.
Tanasha Mills (New City, N.Y.) finished with six points and four assists while Tamia Nunes (Worcester, Mass.) recorded three assists and one block.
The Rams were led by Sam Yencha who led all scorers with 32 points and recorded nine rebounds. Cassie Murphy added a double-double with 16 points and a game-high 19 boards. Morgan Robinson also recorded a double-double on 10 points and a team-high 13 assists.
The Rams held the edge in rebounds, assists, and points in the paint while the Lady Chargers outscored the TJU's bench and forced 10 turnovers.
Dominican will look to bounce back next Tuesday, January 9th when they visit Caldwell University for a CACC north division battle with the Cougars at 5:30 PM.
