MERCY COLLEGE DEFEATS WOMEN'S LACROSSE
Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. (3/16/13) The Dominican college women's lacrosse team fell to 0-2 overall after falling to non-conference opponent, Mercy College, 11-7 this afternoon in a game played at Mavericks Field. The Mavericks improve to 4-1 overall on the season.

DC scored first as Brianna Blank (Point Pleasant, N.J.) netted the unassisted goal with 23:37 remaining in the first half. From there the Mavericks went on a 3-0 run to take a two-goal lead, but the Lady Chargers came charging back with three consecutive goals of their own to regain a 4-3 advantage. Amanda Shelton (Holtsville, N.Y.) began the run with an unassisted goal and closed the run with her second game goal with 4:27 left before halftime. The third DC goal was recorded by Traci-Joan Muniz* (Middlesex, N.J.) off the assist from Allison Smithwick (Commack, N.Y.)
MC netted a goal before the end of the first half to tie the game at 4-4.
Blank once again began the scoring in the second half with her second game goal, but the Mavericks answered back about a minte later to re-tie the game at 5-all. Emily Murray netted a goal to make the score 6-5 with 17:19 remaining in regulation.
Mercy then went on a 6-0 run to put them back in front 11-6 with two and a half minutes to go. Shelton completed the hat trick with her third goal of the game on a free position shot with 15 ticks to go for the final 11-7 score.
Brittany Kiernan (Clarkstown, N.Y.) made eight saves in the Lady Charger net.
Dominican returns to action on Tuesday afternoon as they host Franklin Pierce University in non-conference action scheduled for the Torne Valley Sports Complex.
