DOMINICAN FALLS TO PHILADELPHIA UNIVERSITY

Orangeburg, N.Y. (4/24/16)  The Dominican College women's lacrosse team fell in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action to the visiting Rams of Philadelphia University, 22-16, this afternoon in a game played at the DC Lacrosse Field.

Juniors Shayne Gallagher (Blauvelt, N.Y.) and Amber June (Stony Point, N.Y.) each scored four goals.  June added two assists for six game points, while Gallagher had one assist for five points.

Haliann Fitzgerald (Walden, N.Y.) tallied six points with three goals and three assists and Katie Dascher (Valley Stream, N.Y.) netted three goals.

Senior Christina Brennan* (Washington Township, N.J.) scored one goal, but had a team high five assists to also finish with six points.

Brandi Clay (Meriches, N.Y.) had the other Lady CHarger goal.

Goalie Brittany Kiernan* (Clarkstown, N.Y.) made 12 saves in the loss.

The game was tied at 1-all with 26:42 left in the first half when the Rams went on a 7-0 tear to pull ahead, 8-1.  Dominican outscored Philadelphia, 6-5 over the remaining 16 minutes of the first half to cut the lead to, 13-7 at the intermission.

The Lady Chargers trailed 20-11 with 10:43 to play when the team scored four straight goals to bring them within five goals, 20-15 with 7:37 to go. 

Fitzgerald scored the final goal of the game off the pass from June with 1:04 to go for the final 22-16 score.

With the loss, Dominican falls ot 3-11 overall and 3-5 in conference play.
