Hillburn, N.Y. (4/10/17) The Assumption College women's lacrosse team snapped the Dominican College Lady Chargers six game winning streak after defeating the host, 24-15, this afternoon in a non-conference game played at the Torne Valley Sports Complex.
With the loss, Dominican falls to 6-4 on the season.
A 3-0 Assumption run that spanned 39 seconds starting with 10:38 left in the first half was the deciding factor in the contest as it propelled them to a 6-4 advantage and an eventual 12-8 half time lead.
The Greyhounds outscored the Lady Chargers 12-7 in the second half for the 24-15 win.
Senior Shayne Gallagher (Blauvelt, N.Y.) tied her career high with six game goals.
Haliann Fitzgerald (Walden, N.Y.) and Jenna Fox (Stony Point, N.Y.) both netted three goals in the loss, while Fox added three assists.
Junior Jeanie Peluso (Stony Point, N.Y.) added two goals, while Alayna Heegan (North Babylon, N.Y.) scored a goal.
Goalie Cara Moran (Tomkins Cove, N.Y.) made 14 saves.
