HEEGAN SCORES FOUR GOALS IN LOSS TO GREYHOUNDS

Worcester, Mass. (3/4/18) The Lady Chargers Lacrosse team traveled to Assumption College on Sunday looking to bounce back after Saturday's loss. The Lady Chargers are in search of their first win of the 2018 season after dropping their first three games to start the season. Dominican enters Sunday's game with hopes of earning their first win before their first home game coming up later this week.
Dominican started off strong by grabbing an early 1-0 lead with a goal by Jenna Kelleher (Holbrook, NY) for her fourth of the season. The Greyhounds tied the game at 1-1 not too long after the Lady Chargers took the lead. Dominican scored the next two goals to extend out to a 3-1 over the Greyhounds with Alayna Heegan (North Babylon, NY) and Jenna Fox (Stony Point, NY) contributing to the scoring.
The Greyhounds answered with three straight goals on the Lady Chargers in just over a minute to take a 4-3 lead. Jeanie Peluso (Stony Point, NY) tied the game at 4-4 one minute later and Fox scored her second of the game to help the Lady Chargers regain the lead by a score of 5-4.
The Greyhounds answered with five straight goals over the Lady Chargers to jump out to a 9-5 lead. Dominican stopped the run as Heegan scored her second of the game to cut the deficit to 9-6. The Greyhounds added their tenth goal of the first half with just under a minute to play and took a 10-6 lead into halftime over the Lady Chargers.
The Greyhounds continued their strong offensive play by scoring four straight goals to open the second half. The Lady Chargers found themselves down 14-6 early on in the second half. The Lady Chargers got a goal back with Jenna Fox's third goal of the afternoon, but the Greyhounds added two goals to take a 16-7 lead.
Both teams added a few more goals before the end of the game and the Greyhounds hung on for a 22-11 win. The Greyhounds earned their second win of the season and the Lady Chargers fell to 0-4 on the season. Heegan led the Lady Chargers in scoring with four goals while Peluso and Fox added three goals each in the loss.
The Lady Chargers will be back in action on Thursday March 8th at 4:00 PM when they host St. Thomas Aquinas College for their first home game of the season.
