HEEGAN SCORES FIVE AS LADY CHARGERS FALL TO LIONS
Lakewood, N.J. (3/27/18) The Lady Chargers lacrosse team fell to the Georgian Court University Lions in their first CACC conference match-up of the season.
Lakewood, N.J. (3/27/18) The Lady Chargers lacrosse team fell to the Georgian Court University Lions in their first CACC conference match-up of the season. Dominican, 1-6 (0-1 CACC), was looking to earn their second overall win of the season and their first conference win of the season when they traveled to GCU T&F Complex. The Lions improved to 4-5 (2-0 CACC).
The Lions opened the scoring quickly start the game with a 2-0 lead within the first four minutes of the first half. The Lady Chargers quickly answered the Lion's fast start with two straight goals of their own. Alayna Heegan (North Babylon, N.Y.) and Jenna Fox (Stony Point, N.Y.) scored just over two minutes apart from each other.
The Lions scored the game's next six goals to extend out to an 8-2 lead over the Lady Chargers. Heegan ended the Lion's scoring run with her second of the game to cut the deficit to 8-3. Georgian Court scored the next three goals to make the game 11-3 with time left to play in the first half. Heegan scored her third goal of the first half to cut the deficit to 11-4 with just over ten minutes left to go in the half. Lions scored the next two goals of the half and went into halftime with a 13-4 lead.
Both teams came out in the second half and played evenly matched half. The Lions outscored the Lady Chargers in the second half 8-7. Both teams traded goals through the first twenty minutes of the second half until the Lady Chargers put together a four-goal run to cut into the deficit.
Fox scored three times in the second half to finish with four goals in the game. Heegan added one more goal in the second half for her fifth of the game and Jenna Kelleher (Holbrook, N.Y.) added two goals. The Lions secured the 21-11 win over the Lady Chargers for their fourth win of the season.
The Lady Chargers will be back in action on Wednesday April 4th at 4:00 PM when they host Post University.
