LADY CHARGERS HOLD OFF TIGERS FOR SECOND STRAIGHT WIN
Doylestown, Pa. (4/7/18) The Lady Chargers won a conference game on Saturday to improve their record to 3-6 (-2-1 CACC) over Holy Family University.
Doylestown, Pa. (4/7/18) The Lady Chargers won a conference game on Saturday to improve their record to 3-6 (2-1 CACC) over Holy Family University. The win marks back to back wins for Dominican for the first time this season.
Both teams put up ten goals each in an eventful first half. The Tigers opened the scoring early with two straight goals. Dominican answered with four unanswered goals to jump out to a 4-2 lead over the Tigers. Both teams continued to trade goals as the first half continued. The half ended in a 10-10 tie.
Jenna Fox (Stony Point, N.Y.) scored four goals in the first half while Alayna Heegan (North Babylon, N.Y.) and Jenna Kelleher (Holbrook, N.Y.) both added two goals. Melissa Peysson (East Meadow, N.Y.) and Taylor Sobel (Oradell, N.J.) both added a goal for the Lady Chargers in the first half.
Heegan opened the scoring in the second half for Dominican to give the Lady Chargers the lead. The Tigers answered and tied the game at 11-11. Dominican used a six-goal run to extend out to a 17-11 lead. The Tigers ended the run with three straight goals to make the score 17-14.
Both teams traded goals until the end of the game and the Lady Chargers never lost the lead after their six-goal run. Dominican held on for the 19-17 win. Fox led the way with seven goals while Heegan recorded six goals. Kelleher finished the game with three goals and Peysson finished with two goals. Sobel contributed one goal in the victory.
Goalie Cara Moran (Tomkins Cove, N.Y.) tied her season high with 16 saves in the win.
The Lady Chargers will be back in action on Tuesday April 10th for a CACC match up when they travel to Nyack College.
