DOMINICAN'S HEEGAN SETS NEW SCHOOL RECORD IN VICTORY OVER CALDWELL
Orangeburg, N.Y. (4/12/18) Dominican College women's lacrosse player Alayna Heegan (North Babylon, N.Y.) set a new school record for points in a game as she tallied 13 game points in a 21-13 victory over the visiting Cougars of Caldwell University in a game played this afternoon at the DC Lacrosse Field.

(4/12/18) Dominican College women's lacrosse player Alayna Heegan (North Babylon, N.Y.) set a new school record for points in a game as she tallied 13 game points in a 21-13 victory over the visiting Cougars of Caldwell University in a game played this afternoon at the DC Lacrosse Field.
With the win, Dominican improves to 5-6 overall and 4-1 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play.
Heegan recorded her first of 10 game goals 19 seconds into the contest and added four more in the half to lead the Lady Chargers to a 12-6 lead at the break. Teammate Jenna Fox (Stony Point, N.Y.) also netted five first scores, while Jenna Kelleher (Holbrook, N.Y.) and Taylor Sobel (Oradell, N.J.) had the other DC goals.
Following a Cougar goal to start the second half, the Lady Chargers went on a 5-0 run to extend their lead to 17-7. Throughout the last 12:48 of the game, Caldwell outscored DC 6-4 for the final 21-13 score.
Heegan netted seven goals in the second half to tie her career high with 10 game goals and set a new school and career record with 13 game points.
Sophomore Fox finished wth six game goals and a career high five assists for 11 game points.
Kelleher tallied three goals, while Sobel and Melissa Peysson (East Meadow, N.Y.) netted a goal.
Goalie Cara Moran (Tomkins Cove, N.Y.) made 10 saves in the victory.
Dominican went 10-17 on clear attempts and 6-13 on free position shots, while dominating the Cougars on draw controls, 27-9.
The Lady Chargers continue on their three game home stand as they take on Felician University this coming Saturday. Game time is slated for 10 am on the DC Lacrosse Field.
