FAST START HELPS LIFT WILDCATS TO VICTORY OVER DOMINICAN

New Castle, Del. (4/18/18) The Chargers dropped a conference game on the road to the Wilmington University Wildcats which dropped their record to 6-8 (5-3 CACC). The Wildcats improved their record to 6-9 (4-4 CACC).
In the first half, the Wildcats started the scoring early as they scored the game's first eight goals for an 8-0 lead. Dominican's Alayna Heegan (North Babylon, N.Y.) ended the Wildcat run by scoring the Lady Charger's first goal of the game. The Wildcats scored the next three goals to make the score 11-1.
The Lady Chargers answered by using a four-goal run to cut the deficit to 11-5. Jenna Fox (Stony Point, N.Y.) scored three times during the run and Taylor Sobel (Oradell, N.J.) added a goal. The Wildcats answered with back to back goals to extend their lead out to 13-5. Dominican cut the deficit back down to 13-7 as Heegan scored her second of the game and Jeanie Peluso (Stony Point, N.Y.) scored her first goal of the game.
The Wildcats added two more goals to cap off the scoring for the first half and entered halftime with a 15-7 lead.
Dominican came out of halftime strong with five straight goals to cut the deficit to 15-12 to get themselves back into the game. Wilmington used a seven-goal run to extend their lead out to 22-12. The Wildcats cruised to a 24-13 win to earn their sixth win of the season.
Fox led the Lady Chargers with five goals and added two assists while Heegan finished with four goals in the loss. La'Dae Boykin led all scorers with nine goals for the Wildcats. Taylor Lambeth added five goals in the win.
Dominican will celebrate Senior Day this coming Saturday as they host Chestnut Hill College at 3:30 PM at the Torne Valley Sports Complex.
