40 STUDENT-ATHLETES NAMED TO 2018 CACC WOMEN'S LACROSSE ALL-ACADEMIC TEAM
New Haven, Conn. (6/1/18) Forty (40) student-athletes on Friday were named to the 2018 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women's Lacrosse All-Academic Team, as announced by Commissioner Dan Mara. The total number represent all 10 member schools that sponsor the sport at the varsity level. The 2018 total tops the mark of 35 that comprised the 2017 CACC Women's Lacrosse All-Academic Team.

Dominican College had five players receive CACC All-Academic accolades. Senior Aileen Burke (3.70) made her third appearance on thte team, while Cara Moran (3.60) earned her second All-Academic honors. Teammates Jenna Fox (3.77), Jeanie Peluso (3.56) and Melissa Peysson (3.50) were all named to the team for the first time.
The two schools that squared off in the 2018 CACC Final led the way with the most honorees on the all-academic team. Chestnut Hill College boasted the most honorees with eight, while 2018 CACC Champion Georgian Court University followed with six. Chestnut Hill senior Hunter Leckonby not only led her team, but also the entire list of honorees with a perfect 4.0 cumulative grade point average. She was named the CACC Top XVI Award winner during last month's championship for having the highest GPA at the finals site.
In addition to Leckonby, four other student-athletes were placed on the all-academic team with GPAs of 3.90 or higher, including Kaitlin Iavecchia (CHC, 3.91), Haley Norwillo (CHC, 3.93), Taylor Walker (Holy Family University, 3.97) and Katie Gallivan (Jefferson, 3.92).
Eighteen of the 40 student-athletes on the team were honored at least twice during their respective careers, including six that were three-time honorees.
To be eligible for the All-Academic Team, a student-athletes must meet the following criteria: a) minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 at the end of the immediate preceding term; b) minimum of two semesters enrolled as full-time student at member institution; c) student-athlete must be second year student-athlete at member institution; and d) student-athlete must have been athletically eligible the season preceding the award and used a season of eligibility.
