WOMEN'S LACROSSE OPEN SEASON WITH A LOSS TO SOUTHERN NEW HAMPSHIRE UNIVERSITY

The Lady Chargers fell to the Penmen by a score of 22-11. DC now falls to 0-1 overall on the season and SNHU improves to 1-2 overall.
SNHU opened up the first half with six straight goals to take an early 6-0 lead over DC. Alayna Heegan (North Babylon, N.Y.) ended the run and put the Lady Chargers on the board. The Penmen finished the first half with 11 goals. DC finished the first half with three straight goals to cut the deficit to 11-7 at halftime.
Heegan scored for DC to start the second quarter. The Penmen used an eleven-goal run to extend their lead out to 22-8. DC ended the run with three straight goals at the end of the game but SNHU was able to close out the 22-11 victory.
Heegan led the team in goals with four while Jenna Fox (Stony Point, N.Y.) finished the game with three goals. Jenna Kelleher (Holbrook, N.Y.) also finished with three goals and also added two assists. Sarah Smith (Slate Hill, N.Y.) finished the game with one goal.
Alexis Felt led the Penmen with six goals and added two assists in the win. Kristin Wilder scored three goals and added two assists. Kelsey Long, Catherine Derhak, Madison Peredna, and Stephanie Barr all finished the game with two goals. Erin Gorton, Jackie Richardson, Nicole Manning, Dani Tompkins, and Merry Harrington each added one goal.
The Lady Chargers will be back in action next Thursday, March 14th when they host Molloy College for their home opener. The game is scheduled to start at 7:00 PM.
