LADY CHARGERS EARN FIRST WIN OF THE SEASON

Waterbury, Conn. (3/26/19) The Dominican College women's lacrosse team opened conference play with a win over Post University. The Lady Chargers improved to 1-4 (1-0 CACC) and the Eagles fall to 1-5 (0-1 CACC) on the season.
The first half was a back and forth contest with the Eagles holding a slim lead at halftime by a score of 7-6.
Post opened the second half with a goal to extend their lead to two goals. DC scored three straight goals to take the lead. The Eagles answered with a goal to tie the game at 9-9. The Lady Chargers used a four-goal run and a three-goal run against the Eagles late in the game to take control of the game and close out the 18-12 win.
Jenna Fox (Stony Point, N.Y.), Jena Kelleher (Holbrook, N.Y.), and Alayna Heegan (North Babylon, N.Y.) all led the Lady Chargers in the win with four goals. Taylor Sobel (Oradell, N.J.) added three goals in the win. Laurel Kennedy (Orangeburg, N.Y.), Sarah Smith (Slate Hill, N.Y.), and Melissa Peysson (East Meadow, N.Y.) each scored one goal.
Rebecca Nutting (Marcellus, N.Y.) earned the win in goal for the Lady Chargers to improve her personal record to 1-4 on the season. Nutting made 12 saves to help DC secure the victory.
Savannah Schwack led the Eagles with four goals while Morgan Cassiliano scored three goals. Aolani Hermosura and Lauren Chambers each added two goals in the game. Jaylene Souto finished the game with a goal. Christina Badaracco started in goal for the Eagles and recorded 18 saves.
The Lady Chargers will be back in action on Saturday, March 30th when they return home to host Wilmington University for a CACC match-up at 6:00 PM.
