WOMEN'S LACROSSE DROPS CONFERENCE GAME TO WILMINGTON UNIVERSITY
Hillburn, N.Y. (3/30/19) The Dominican College women’s lacrosse team fell to the Wilmington University Wildcats in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game by a score of 17-11.
Hillburn, N.Y. (3/30/19) The Dominican College women's lacrosse team fell to the Wilmington University Wildcats in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game by a score of 17-11. The Lady Chargers fall to 1-5 (1-1 CACC) after the loss. The Wildcats improve to 4-6 (1-1 CACC) after the win.
The Lady Chargers got off to a fast start in the first half by scoring the first five goals and held a 5-0 lead over the Wildcats. Wilmington answered with three straight goals to cut the DC lead to 5-3.
Both teams traded the next three goals as DC held a 7-4 lead with over six minutes to play. The Wildcats used a four-goal run to take their first lead of the game. DC tied the score late in the opening half but the Wildcats scored as time expired and held a 9-8 lead at halftime.
Wilmington solidified the win by outscoring DC 8-3 in the second half. The Wildcats used two three-goal runs to help secure the victory.
Lashay Ross led the way for the Wildcats with five goals and added two assists. Taylor Lambeth scored four goals and recorded one assist. Brooke Siebert scored three goals while Delaney Steele and Alexis Miller each scored two goals. Marisa Parker finished the game with one goal.
Alayna Heegan (North Babylon, N.Y.) scored four goals and recorded two assists to lead the Lady Chargers. Taylor Sobel (Oradell, N.Y.) and Jenna Fox (Stony Point, N.Y.) each added two goals. Jenna Kelleher (Holbrook, N.Y.), Sarah Smith (Slate Hill, N.Y.), and Abbigail Dufort (Schenectady, N.Y.) each scored one goal in the game.
Rebecca Nutting (Marcellus, N.Y.) started in goal for the Lady Chargers and recorded 18 saves in the game. Maddie Hurm and Tori Grubowski split time in goal for the Wildcats. Hurm recorded three saves and Grubowski recorded six saves to help secure the win for Wilmington.
The Lady Chargers will be back in action on Wednesday, April 3rd when they visit the Cougars of Caldwell University for a CACC match-up at 4:00 PM.
