DOMINICAN TOPS BEES IN NON-CONFERENCE ACTION
Hardeeville, S.C. (3/8/24) The Dominican University New York women's lacrosse team downed the Bees of Savannah College of Art and Design, 19-6, this evening in a non-conference game played at the SCAD Athletics Complex.
The win lifts the Lady Chargers to a 3-2 record, while the Bees fall to 3-4 on the season.
SCAD recorded the game's first goal with 9:24 reamining in the first quarter, but Dominican struck back with four consecutive scores to claim a 4-1 lead at the end of one period.
The Lady Chargers continued on the offensive as they outscored the Bees, 8-1 in the second quarter to jump ahead 12-2 at the break and they never looked back en route to victory.
Sophomore attacker Madelyn Grella (Monmouth Beach, N.J.) delivered a game best six goals, along with two assists for eight points in the win.
Grace DeStasio (West Hempstead, N.Y.) added five goals and one assist, while Caitlin Costello (Seaford, N.Y.) dished out a game high five assists with three goals for eight game points.
Junior Sydney Strohmayer (Rocky Point, N.Y.) and Erica Ortiz (Slate Hill, N.Y.) had two goals a-piece in the win, while Anna Kaminskey (Mount Sinai, N.Y.) had the other Lady Charger score.
Keeper Kristinamarie Kaszovitz (Hicksville, N.Y.) picked up the win in three quarters of play, making seven saves and giving up four goals.
Kathryn Ehrlinger (Levittown, N.Y.) had one save in the fourth quarter.
The Lady Chargers return to action on Wednesday afternoon when they host Millersville University in a non-conference game to be played on O'Brien Field.
