DOMINICAN DOWNS BRIDGEPORT FOR SIXTH STRAIGHT WIN
Bridgeport, Conn. (4/3/24) The Dominican University New York women's lacrosse team extended their streak to six straight victories after defeating the University of Bridgeport in conference action.
The Lady Chargers improve to 8-2 overall and 4-0 in conference play while the Purple Knights fall to 6-3 overall and 1-2 in conference play.
Kristinamarie Kaszovitz (Hicksville, N.Y.) started in goal for the Lady Chargers and earned her eighth win of the season and made nine saves.
Erica Ortiz (Slate Hill, N.Y.) scored a team-high seven goals and recorded two draw controls. Grace DeStasio (West Hempstead, N.Y.) and Madelyn Grella (Monmouth Beach, N.J.) each scored two goals. DeStasio recorded a team-high five draw controls while Grella added two assists.
Caitlin Costello (Seaford, N.Y.) finished with one goal, one assist and three ground balls while Anna Kaminskey (Mount Sinai, N.Y.) also scored one goal and picked up three ground balls.
Sydney Strohmayer (Rocky Point, N.Y.) and Alexa Preston (Coram, N.Y.) each added one goal. Alivia Chieca (Lindenhurst, N.Y.), Erin Carr (Wall, N.J.), Jordana Tomasetti (Middletown, N.J,), and Costello each recorded three caused turnovers.
UB opened the scoring in the first quarter but the Lady Chargers answered with three straight goals and held a 4-2 lead after the opening frame.
Three more goals for DU in the second gave the Lady Chargers a 7-3 advantage by halftime. Dominican rolled in the second half outscoring UB 8-3 on their way to the 15-6 victory.
The Lady Chargers return home this Saturday when they host the Rams of Thomas Jefferson University on O'Brien Field at 11:00 AM.
