LONG WINS WOMEN'S COLLEGIATE SINGLE RACE AT HEAD OF THE FISH
Saratoga Springs, N.Y. (10/29/23) Dominican University New York women's rower, Tara Long (Myshall, Ireland) beat out 18 other competitors to win the collegiate women's single race yesterday at the Head of the Fish Regatta. The Head of the Fish is one of the larger fall regattas with over 1000 total entries.
Long won a coveted fish-head trophy as she outraced an international field with a time of 15 minutes 11.6 seconds. She beat second-place rower Taylor Volmrich from Ithaca College by five seconds, and also topped rowers from Club d'Aviron Laval, Clarkson, Montreal Rowing Club, Skidmore, and others.
The Lady Chargers also competed in the women's collegiate double where the team of Brianna Salmon (Suffern, N.Y.) and Ava O'Brien (Melbourne, Australia) came in 16th place with a time of 54.61. The team of Nilah Lafontant (Pomona, N.Y.) and Amy Anil (Nyack, N.Y.) finished in 17th place with a time of 59.51.
The team of Lafontant, O'Brien, Anil, Salmon and Long competed in the women's collegiate four race finished in 34th place with a time of 35.29.
