Orangeburg, N.Y. (10/26/13) The Holy Family University women's soccer team rallied from a 1-0 deficit to defeat the Dominican College Lady Chargers, 2-1, this afternoon in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game played at the DC Soccer Field.
Orangeburg, N.Y. (10/26/13) The Holy Family University women's soccer team rallied from a 1-0 deficit to defeat the Dominican College Lady Chargers, 2-1, this afternoon in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game played at the DC Soccer Field.
With the loss, Dominican falls to 6-4-4 overall and 6-3-2 in conference play.
Midfielder Mackenzie Riley (Zanesville, Ohio) gave Dominican a 1-0 lead at the 23:34 mark on a shot from inside the six yard box off the assist from Melissa Messina (Hillsdale, N.J.).
The Tigers tied the score in the 34th minute and scored the go-ahead goal in the 85th minute for the 2-1 victory.
The Lady Chargers out shot the Tigers, 11-9, and held a 3-1 advantage in corner kicks.
Lady Charger keeper Gina Yannette (Dumont, N.J.) made three saves in the loss.
Before the game, Dominican honored seniors: #3 Jamilyn Snyder (Lacey, N.J.), #5 Olivia Antonopoulos* (Baldwin, N.Y.), #7 Danielle Klecha (Jamesburg, N.J), #8 Danielle Romano (Plainview, N.Y.), #9 Lisa Friscia (Valley Stream, N.Y.), #12 Stephanie Falzarano (Roslyn Heights, N.Y.), #13 Messina, #15 Riley and #25 Veronica Iozzi (Chester, N.J.).
DC is back in action on Tuesday as they finish up regular season play at Bloomfield College.
