CACC PRESEASON WOMEN'S SOCCER POLL UNVEILED
New Haven, Conn. (10/10/17) Georgian Court University received 161 points (6 1st-place votes) to earn the first-place spot in the 2017 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women's Soccer Preseason Coaches Poll, as announced on Thursday by Commissioner Dan Mara. The voting for the poll was conducted by the league's 13 head coaches in the sport of women's soccer.

The voting for the poll was conducted by the league's 13 head coaches in the sport of women's soccer.
Joining GCU in the top three was defending conference champion Caldwell University (2nd, 152, 4 1st-place votes) and Jefferson (3rd, 139, 2 1st).
Georgian Court went 9-2-1 in conference action a season ago to claim the CACC regular season championship. The Lions advanced all the way to the league championship final where they came up just short against Caldwell by a count of 1-0.
The Cougars finished a point behind GCU in the race for the league's regular season crown, but was able to claim the tournament title and the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Division II East Region Tournament.
Jefferson, which won back-to-back CACC titles in 2014 and 2015, earned the third-place spot in this year's preseason poll. The Rams finished fourth in the CACC regular season standings in 2016, while also hosting a first-round playoff match.
The remainder of the 2017 preseason poll included Wilmington University (4th, 129, 1 1st), Holy Family University (5th, 125), Goldey-Beacom College (6th, 96), Post University (7th, 81), Felician University (8th, 79), Nyack College (9th, 65), Chestnut Hill College (10th, 46), Dominican College (11th, 41), Concordia College (12th, 39) and Bloomfield College (13th, 24).
The 2017 season kicks off on Thursday, Aug. 31, with several CACC schools in action. The regular season will build up to the 2017 CACC Championship tournament on Oct. 31 and Nov. 3-5. The quarterfinals will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 31, followed by the semifinals on Friday, Nov. 3 and the final on Sunday, Nov. 5. The semis and final will be staged at Georgian Court University in Lakewood, N.J.
