GRIFFINS STUN LADY CHARGERS IN WILD OT GAME
Philadelphia, Pa. (9/16/17) The Lady Chargers traveled to Chestnut Hill College on Saturday in search of their first win of the 2017 season in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) women's soccer action.
Philadelphia, Pa. (9/16/17) The Lady Chargers traveled to Chestnut Hill College on Saturday in search of their first win of the 2017 season. After falling to Felician, the Lady Chargers were poised for a win against the Griffins.
The Chargers fired a season high 32 shots in the game as 12 were recorded on goal and 9 were saved by the Griffins goalkeeper Meghan Guagenti. Kaitlyn Montera (New City, NY) led the team in shots with 11 and 4 were recorded on net. At the 34:05 mark of the game, Montera answered the Griffins first goal by Kylee Jazikoff which tied the game at 1-1 and was assisted by Lauren Drake (Clifton Park, NY). Drake's assist was the only assist in the game for Dominican. The first half ended in a tie which set up the eventful second half.
The game remained tied until Taylor Calero (New City, NY) scored the go ahead goal which went unassisted at the 77:48 mark of the game. The game was far from over when the Griffins' Ariel Magee tied the game at 2-2 at the 81:24 mark. Only 41 seconds later, Kylee Jazikoff scored the go ahead goal for the Griffins at the 82:05 mark making the score 3-2 for her second score of the game. The Lady Chargers were backed into a corner as time was running out for them. Play stopped with two seconds to go and off the restart Ina Koeder (Schwaebisch Hall, Germany) scored the game tying goal as time ran out in the wild second half and both teams were headed to OT with a score of 3-3.
In the first OT period, both teams took 2 shots each with Dominican's shot both being on net which were saved by Guagenti. At the 99:36 mark, Ariel Magee scored the deciding goal for her second goal of the game making her the second player for the Griffins to have a multi goal game.
With the win, the Griffins earned their first overall win and first win in the conference improving their record to 1-4 (1-2 CACC). With the loss, the Lady Chargers drop to 0-5 (0-3 CACC) and are still in search of their first win of the season.
