Orangeburg, N.Y. (9/23/17) Still in search of their first win of the 2017 season, the Lady Chargers soccer team hosted the Rams from Jefferson. The Rams, coming off a loss to Georgian Court, were looking to bounce back with a win against Dominican.
Throughout the game, the Rams out shot the Lady Chargers by a large margin of 27 to 4 with 14 of 27 shots recorded on goal. Lady Charger goalkeeper Angelica Contreras (Baytown, Texas) kept her team in the game with her 11 save effort. As for Jefferson's goalkeeper Erin Tinneny, her defense gave her a lot of support as Dominican was only able to record four shots overall in the game. Tinneny recorded two saves out of three shots on goal by Dominican.
At the 26:39 mark, MaryKate Ulmer scored the game's first goal when she dribbled through defenders and took a shot which was initially saved by Contreras but regained the rebound and took another shot and scored the unassisted goal to give her team a 1-0 lead. The Lady Chargers responded at the 34:51 mark when Kaitlyn Montera (New City, NY) took a pass from teammate Julianne Ramos (Pembroke Pines, Fla.) just passed mid-field and booted a shot that sailed across the field and got passed Tinnenyin the top left corner of the net. The 45 yard goal by Montera tied the game 1-1 as the game went to halftime.
In the second half, The Rams continued to stay aggressive but the game remained tied for most of the period. At the 73:04 mark the Rams took the lead off a goal by Sarah Patrignani to make the score 2-1. Not long after her first goal, Patrignani scored again for her second of the game to give her team a 3-1 lead with both goals being assisted by Alexa Karakitsios. The game eventually ended 3-1 with the Rams improving to 4-3 (3-1 CACC). The Lady Chargers dropped to 0-7 (0-5 CACC).
The Lady Chargers will continue their quest for their first win of the year when they visit Nyack on Tuesday.
