Bloomfield, N.J. (10/18/17) The Lady Chargers traveled to Bloomfield College for a game against the conference rival Bears. A strong start is the key to the game for Dominican in order to earn a win late in the season. The Lady Chargers, 2-12 (2-9 CACC), are looking to end the season off right and Wednesday's game was their last road game of the season. The Bears have also had a tough season but with the win they improved to 5-9 (3-8 CACC).
Dominican needed a strong start to earn a win against the Bears but 17 seconds into the game the Bears struck first. Lisa Parello scored an unassisted goal for her third goal of the season. The rest of the first half was a stalemate as both teams went back and forth trying to the game's next goal. The Lady Charger's offense fired six shots in the half and one was recorded on goal and saved by Emira Sela of Bloomfield to keep the score 1-0 for the duration of the first half. Angelica Contreras (Baytown, Texas) saw four shots by the Bears but did not record any first half saves as the other three shots were not on goal.
The second half was another back and forth stalemate with both goalkeepers keeping their team in the game. The Lady Chargers took 10 shots in the half with five on goal and saved by Bloomfield goalkeepers Emira Sela and Alison Corino who took over late. Contreras made two saves for the Lady Chargers to keep her team in the game. Time would eventually run out on the Lady Chargers and they fell to the Bears 1-0.
The Lady Chargers offense had one of their better games against the Bears with multiple players recording multiple shots in the game. Kaitlyn Montera (New City, N.Y.) took a team leading four shots in the game while Taylor Calero (New City, N.Y) and Maria Cabrera (Haverstraw, N.Y.) both taking three shots in the game.
Dominican will finish their 2017 season with the two games left on the schedule at home. The Lady Chargers will be back in action on Saturday against Holy Family University.
