CABRERA'S LATE GOAL LIFTS WOMEN'S SOCCER OVER CONCORDIA 1-0
Bronxville, N.Y. (9/20/18) The Dominican College women’s soccer team earned their first win of the 2018 season with a 1-0 victory over the Clippers of Concordia College on Thursday.

Dominican, 1-5-1 (1-2-1 CACC), bounced back with a win after their loss on Saturday to Goldey-Beacom. Goalkeeper Angelica Contreras (Baytown, Texas) earned the shutout win to improve her season record to 1-3-1 and recorded one save in the win for Dominican.
Dominican fired 20 shots at Clippers goalkeeper Jocelyn Heller who recorded 12 saves in the loss. DC took eight shots in the first half and twelve in the second half.
The first half was a scoreless tie for both teams. In the second half, the game remained scoreless for most of the half. Dominican broke the scoreless tie when Sophomore forward Maria Cabrera (Haverstraw, N.Y.) scored an unassisted goal for the 1-0 lead at the 80:12 mark of the game.
DC would eventually hold on to secure their first win of the season. As a team, the Chargers finished the game with 20 total shots and 13 were on goal. Taylor Calero (New City, N.Y.) led the team in shots with five and four on goal.
Lauren Drake (Clifton Park, N.Y.) took four shots and three ended up on goal while Cabrera and Megan Geary (Campbell Hall, N.Y.) both took three shots. Abby Montera (New City, N.Y.) added two shots on goal while Amanda Saab (Oakland, N.J), Danielle Gillespie (New City, N.Y.), and Carly Rose (Bayville, N.J.) each contributed one shot.
Dominican will look to continue the momentum in their next game when they travel to Georgian Court University on Saturday, September 22nd at 12:00 PM for a conference game with the Lions.
